How to start DBArtisan when you have Sybase Openclient 15 installed (alternative method)

In my How to start DBArtisan when you have Sybase Openclient 15 installed blog post, I mentioned how to create a batch file to start up DBArtisan. Richard McGorman emailed me this morning on an alternative method where you copy the syblibs to the old file naming scheme used by DBArtisan. It works rather well čÖé

Hi Jason:

I was reading your blog a few weeks ago on the issue with DBArtisan and Open Client 15. I talked to Embarcadero support about it. Here was the resolution that worked for me.

– upgrade to DBArtisan 8.1.3 (I was on 8.1.1). The problem might also be fixed in 8.1.2 but I didn’t have that version

– copy the Open Client libraries to the old names. There’s a command file (copylibs.bat) in the …\OCS-15_0\scripts directory that copies the libraries. Sybase changed the names of the libraries from libxxx.dll to libsybxxx.dll to eliminate some name conflicts with other vendors libraries. DBArtisan is still looking for the old library names. Hopefully Embarcadero┬áwill fix that issue with a future release. The command file requires a parameter (create), so call it like this:

copylibs create

Try it out to see if it works for you.

Thank you. This post has been a lot of Help.
As the matter of fact it worked for DBArtisan 8.1.0 too, as it is also looking for the older file names.
