Every year at Sybase’s Techwave, I spend a chunk of time at the local coffee shop, preferably Starbucks or Caribou Coffee, contemplating the state of Sybase products and the company itself. There are times that it is very difficult to be excited about it, with the meandering focus of the company and the dazed & confused look of Sybase Sales/Marketing that are often screwed over by their regions being in constant flux (truth to be told, has there ever been a corporation that doesn’t f-up their sales & marketing staff by doing this?)
I’m watching this year’s attendees tromping by with smiles on their faces. It is their enthusiasm that rejuvenates us old ones. It’s hard to be a P.I.T.A (pain in the a$$) with their optimism. One thing is for sure though, Sybase engineering (pick your favorite product) need our help to direct their direction as they, more often than not, will work on unimportant things.
Two blog posts and I still haven’t taken a sip of my coffee or a bite of the blueberry scone.
I actually remembered to have business cards made. Married life has definitely changed me. For the better from my point of view 🙂
