If you’re trying to install PowerBuilder 11.1 on Windows Vista, you may run into CR# 487134:
Installation of PB 11.0 and PB 11.1 on several machines fails with the same messages in window logs. Volume Shadow Copy Service error: Unexpected error querying for the IVssWriterCallback interface. hr = 0×80070005. Same for several Customers. Happens on Windows Vista OS. The root cause is a DW ActiveX self-register issue which will be fixed in the next full install release.
Workaround: Uninstall Ms Office 2007 and reinstall it after successful PB11.1 installation
Details:
Trying to install PowerBuilder 11.1 (from subscribenet) but it doesn’t complete. The install window says “PowerBuilder is configuring your new software installation.” with the status bar completely filled. Windows Vista pops up a message “Setup.exe has stopped working … A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available. … Close program”.
