Having trouble with VMware Player’s (or Workstation) Unity mode and Ubuntu Linux? Are you using the NVidia display driver with multiple monitors?

Look no more, as a simple driver option in your /etc/X11/xorg.conf needs to be added to the Device Section: Option “AddARGBGLXVisuals” “True”

Now your applications running in VMware Unity mode won’t jump all over the place! The option doesn’t appear to be needed for single monitor setups.
