Playing with the Gimp: Quick Mask

Which photo is the original photo?  I used the quick mask and changed the color of the spoon using Colors -> Color Balance.  Did I add or take away?

Is the original photo the coffee cup with a gold spoon:

Or is it with the silver spoon:
